Music Tree Preparatory School has moved all lessons ONLINE in mid-March. During our Fall semester we will continue to offer online lessons exclusively. We will continue this format until we determine that we can once again offer in-person music lessons safely for both faculty and students.
Our Fall Semester Begins Monday, August 24
We enroll students every week of the year.
It is not necessary to begin lessons at the beginning of any semester.
Tuition is prorated so that you only pay for lessons you will receive
A Message from Dr. Perkins
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has gotten on the bandwagon with ONLINE MUSIC LESSONS!
TO THE TEACHERS
Music Tree faculty stepped up quickly, calling parents and students and encouraging them to move to this format – even offering a free trial lesson to those who were unsure whether this would work for them. Many of our faculty have had previous online teaching experience, but some had not. They helped each other, and all found a setup they could work with using the technology they had on hand. They then helped their parents and students learn to use their own existing technology so that lessons could continue. I am always in awe of the professionalism of this team of musicians I am honored to call colleagues.
TO THE PARENTS
Music Tree parents were open to this change and willing to make this switch on very short notice, working it into their children’s other studies from home. Some were hesitant, but willing to try it out, finding that music lessons actually work really well in this format. It does take some getting used to, but everyone is bringing their ‘A’ game to our new music lesson normal! Thank you, parents, for your efforts to make sure your child continues to grow as a musician, and to have music in their life.
TO THE STUDENTS
And to you, the students, who have had to adjust to so many changes so quickly; I am proud of you for having such a great attitude about your online lessons, and working to include yet another bit of technology into your already tech-filled lives. We miss seeing you in person, but love seeing you every week. Practice as much as you can and know that one day we will all be making music in person once more. You are under a lot of stress right now. You miss your school – you miss your friends. As hard as it is, just know that all of the adults in your life are doing everything they can to keep you safe.
TO OUR MUSIC TREE FAMILIES
We do have a few (but surprisingly few) parents and students who choose to have their lessons on hold until they can once again have face-to-face lessons. We look forward to seeing you on the other side of this difficult time. To these parents, please know that, should you find our Stay At Home time lasting much longer than you had anticipated, and would like to take advantage of online lessons, just give us a call. Your teacher has reserved your place on their schedule because you are on ‘hold’ during this time. We are here for you.
TO THE COMMUNITY
The Music Tree, like every other local business in Zachary, is doing everything it can to survive this difficult time. We want to be here for you when we are on the other side of this. We so appreciate all of the support you have shown for the Music Tree over the past 7 years, and have grown to know our wonderful community through the hundreds of families we have served since 2013.
If you are thinking of adding music lessons to your child’s education, or if you would like to learn to play an instrument and think this may be a good time to give yourself this gift, just call us. We will gladly give you a free trial lesson so that you can consider whether this is something you can add to your life at this time.
